Scoville Park festival connects residents with volunteer opportunities

Those hoping to find volunteer opportunities with local not-for-profits and community organizations enjoyed a one-stop shop this past weekend at Scoville Park.

Walk the Walk, a local human rights activism committee working in Oak Park and Austin, hosted its “Agents of Change” festival Oct. 10 at the park. The event featured several nonprofits and community groups seeking to enact meaningful change in the area.

The groups include organizations involved with non-violence work, wellness and youth mentorship.

Organizers hoped the event would be able to connect local residents with groups that interested them. Attendees could learn more about various organizations and sign up to become volunteers.

While the event had a goal of advancing social justice causes, guests could also enjoy some weekend fun with pumpkin painting activities and enjoy a meal from a local food pop-up vendor.
