Is my dream OK?
It’s the question that always comes up. No matter the event–whether it’s with adults, a first grader or a graduating senior, it’s always the same.
There is always a moment when someone pulls me aside to ask… “can you tell me if my dream is ok ?
These are the moments (and dreams) that make me hold my breath, as I wait for the humble and honest reveal of a heart preparing to share from an incredibly vulnerable place.
Sometimes, what I’m really being asked is if I think the dreamer is really ok .
And the answer is always a resounding YES.
It is more than ok to want to be…a good kid.
It is more than ok to want…a family.
It is more than ok to want…to be yourself.
It is more than ok to want…to not be so sad.
It’s more than ok to dream…of standing on a stage and singing your heart out.
It is more than ok to dream…that everyone has a friend.
It is more than ok to dream…that no one will be left out of love.
It is more than ok to dream…of hugging people again.
